With all that is going on in our world, have you BREATHEd today?
I am talking about the act that you unconsciously perform to sustain life in your body.
Let’s take a moment and, “Breathe IN ….. hold that in for 5 seconds ….. Breathe OUT”.
How did that feel? You may have let go of that weight that you had been carrying — that unmerited opinion that your co-worker shared at your work meeting, the consistent reminder of how your country sees you because of your skin color or how you’re going to pay that bill that’s due in a few days. I am not disregarding your reality or what you are going through because it is real. In terms of how God has instructed us to handle weights, you have been carrying a lot sis. The way you were created, your body was not created for such a task. Whether it’s one thing or multiple things, it should have no space in your mind, heart or soul.
Consider this scripture: Job 27: 3, “as long as breath is in me and God’s breath is in my nostrils –” What are you going to choose to do? You don’t have just any breath in your body, you have GOD’S BREATH! This is the same breath that existed in Abraham, Job and my personal favorite, David. No matter what life dealt them, they chose to BREATHE, shift gears and keep believing, keep trusting, and keep going. Though scripture does not specifically point out when they were out of breath per se, but given the tendency of the flesh to carry a burden that we were never meant to carry, I am certain they experienced things that made them have to take a second and breathe.
It is up to you to decide what you are going to do after you realize the quality of breathe flowing within you. God doesn’t stress, so why am I stressed? God isn’t pressed, so why am I pressed?
Bring into memory all that you know about God. Here are a few I enjoy meditating on:
God is concerned about my concerns. Matthew 11:28
God loves me too much to leave me where I am. Jeremiah 29:11
God’s breath is in my lungs and I am called to worship Him, in spite of the circumstances. Job 33: 4 & Psalms 150:6
God knew everything I would go through and even designed a resolution to my problem, before I or the problem was created. Jeremiah 1:5 & Psalms 121:1-2
Practice this exercise until all that may come your way in life, your automatic response is to direct yourself to His Word. You’ve got too much purpose to let anything trip you or hold you back from everything that has already been handled and promised to you. I promise sis, you will make it through. Just like last time and the time before that and the time before that.
Additionally, before you allow your thoughts to go any further, take an intentional breath. It has been proven to improve blood pressure, decrease anxiety and better your focus. Most importantly, it serves as a reminder that you don’t just have any kind of breathe in your body, but the powerful breathe of God that restores, renews and redirects.
I am breathing in the Breath of God and breathing out everything weighing me down.
Until next time,
Peace out Gems ✌🏾
